We then went to the Nature Center where we learned about the wildlife that is in the park. Mule deer, lizards (one of which had made an appearance at breakfast this morning) squirrel, lemurs, big horned sheep and mountain lions are all part of the park. Then we went to the History Museum where we saw a movie about how the cliffs were created, the Native Americans who once lived there and the European Americans who eventually settled in the area before it was a National Park. Doug and I all thought it was very interesting, and although the girls claimed to be bored with it all were then naming the types of rock and cliff formations as we drove through the park.
After that we went on the shuttle to the Weeping Rock and then hiked in about a half a mile in to see it. OMG! It was truly an amazing sight. The water was spraying as it fell down the rocks. It made a small waterfall, the green plants that grew around it were all amazing. It was just a beautiful and peaceful sight. Hailey and Maddie enjoyed standing below the water drops and getting wet. They were giggling and having a blast. Doug was busy taking pictures of everything, the rocks, the plant life, and the way the sun was casting shadows.
On the way down from Weeping Rock the girls each found something to get into. Hailey played in the stream and Maddie climbed a fallen tree. This gave Doug and I a chance to catch our breath.
We then boarded the shuttle again and took it all the way to the Temple of Sinawava and then back down again. The scenery was amazing and we all just had a good time. It however, was very very hot out 103 degrees to be exact. Even with drinking plenty of water we were all happy to be back at the car with the air conditioning.
We ate lunch at one of the overlooks as we exited the park. Then Doug continued to stop here and there for photo opportunities. He especially liked checkerboard mesa, he actually took the girls with him for a short walk, while I rested in the car.
We continued out of the park and headed to our next destination. Ruby's Inn and RV Park which is right next to Bryce Canyon National Park, where we will be visiting tomorrow. We were so happy the weather was cooperative this evening and allowed the girls to get some pool time in at the campground and Doug and I had a chance to soak in the hot tub.
We then had a quick dinner in the camper and are enjoying a quiet evening relaxing before we go to sleep. The Wifi here is not that great either so pictures will have to wait.
