Today we went to the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City. At first I was worried about whether or not it was a good idea for a trip, the first few exhibits were exclusively of art, paintings, sculptures, and drawings. Although they were all beautiful, and I love art galleries, this was advertised as a museum about cowboys. Maddie loved the artwork as much as I did, but Hailey and Doug were bored. We did eventually make it to the Cowboy exhibits and the Native American Exhibits. It was cool and very interesting, it covered everything from a historical perspective, as well as cowboys in the movies, and modern day rodeo life. There was even a old west town for us to explore. Everyone enjoyed themselves, we spent about 5 hours there and then it was time to hit the road.
I will say that I want to eventually come back to Oklahoma, they have many more museums that I would like to see, including a Space Museum, and a Museum of Flight. Hopefully we can make that work in the future.
Now we are in Arkansas at Crater of Diamonds National Park. We will be here for one night and then once again we will head to another state. Doug has been a real trooper doing all of the driving. We just finished dinner and sent the girls to the bathhouse for showers, so we care enjoying 15 minutes of child free bliss. This has been such a wonderful vacation, a dream come true for all of us. Doug had a vision, and together we have made it work. We have one more week left!!!
We are loving reading the Gaede Family Adventures! I've passed it on to Steve to give him some ideas!
